Congratulations to the Maldives on the launch of their first Vital Statistics Report! The milestone event, held on November 18, 2024, was officiated by the Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development, Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed. This report, developed by the Maldives Statistics Bureau (MSB) with technical guidance and support from ESCAP, represents a significant achievement in the country’s statistical development. Covering data from 2019 to 2021, the report offers vital insights into demographic trends, including the completeness of birth and death registrations. It serves as a crucial tool for enhancing the Maldives’ Civil Registration System and advancing the nation’s ability to monitor and improve its population data infrastructure.
